Work the Word

The observance of God's Word is the actual work of expressing your love for God.

This day the Lord, your God, commands you to observe all His statutes and decrees. Be careful, then, to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul.

The covenant has been set and the agreement is in the works. You have made an agreement with the Lord: He is to be your God and you are to walk in His ways and observe his statutes, commandments and decrees, and to hearken to His voice. He will then raise you high in praise and renown and glory above all as He promised.

God works to fulfill His covenant to those who love Him and observe His commandments. His works in you are done by covenant and not by contract.  In a contract, the parties involved enter into an agreement because of a mutual need. There is a sense of necessity in it and therefore an aspect of mutual “use,” because what the other can provide is of urgent use for the other party. A covenant is entered into not because of necessity or need, it is freely given.

The observance of God's Word is the actual work of expressing your love for God.  It is the operative word where the Lord's covenant really becomes alive and real. These can not be separated otherwise your love for God will only mean "lip service".

The Lord is a great and awesome God who loves you. Always give thanks to the Lord and live by each and every word that comes from Him.
Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart find favor before you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. - Psalm 19:15

Prayer

What lies within this fragile heart that beats and bleeds and breaks apart. What secrets does it hold inside that I have tried so hard to hide. What dreams and hopes and fears and doubts that fill my mind and make me shout. What passions and desires and joys and pains that stir my soul and course my veins. What words and thoughts and feelings and deeds that shape my life and guide my needs. What truths and lies and rights and wrongs that form my voice and sing my songs. What is this heart that you can see that only you can set me free. What is this heart that I conceal that only you can make me reveal.
